Blackmore works closely with Fudge Kitchen to produce their printed packaging. Known for high-quality, handcrafted fudge, they need packaging that reflects the same standard - perfectly colour-matched every time, delivered with consistently high print quality and a flexible, responsive service.
We spoke with Tom Wiles at Fudge Kitchen to learn what matters most when it comes to their printed packaging - and how Blackmore helps deliver it.

Can you tell us a little about Fudge Kitchen?
Fudge Kitchen has been hand-making confectionery for over 40 years, starting in our shops and production kitchens in some of the UK’s historic cities. We are known for producing high-quality, handcrafted fudge using traditional techniques and fresh ingredients.
Alongside our retail shops, we now operate within the luxury food and beverage gifting sector, producing for some of the world’s most recognised department stores including Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. Our focus has always been on combining artisan craftsmanship with distinctive products that feel special, whether bought as a gift or enjoyed as an everyday treat.
How do the Blackmore-printed packaging items benefit your business?
The new packaging formats have opened up a new area of business for us, allowing us to target speciality and artisan food retailers with products designed for both gifting and self-treating. They are strong pick-up products that feel premium without being inaccessible.
Our redesigned Christmas Crackers, developed with Blackmore, were particularly successful and sold what was forecast as 18 months of stock in around nine months. More recently we have redeveloped our Pantry range, ensuring the packaging is as eye-catching on shelf as the products are enjoyable to eat.

For the re-branded packaging, colour consistency and matching to baseline colours were key. Is this something you worked on closely with Blackmore?
Yes, colour consistency was extremely important for the rebrand. We made several visits to Blackmore to work closely with the team, adjusting small colour levels to ensure everything matched our baseline palette as accurately as possible.
Their expertise was invaluable throughout the process. They also helped guide us on selecting the right card stocks for future projects, ensuring the packaging has the right finish and feel to reflect the quality of the product inside.
Was the press passing of the different cartons and colours beneficial? Did everything run smoothly on the day?
Yes, the press passing ran very smoothly. The team managed the process expertly, balancing efficiency with the flexibility to make small colour adjustments where needed.
This allowed us to review and sign off every product format in a very time-efficient way while still ensuring the colours and finishes were exactly what we wanted. Having that level of support and organisation made a real difference during what could otherwise have been a very complex process.

Why did you choose to work with Blackmore and what do you value about their service?
Blackmore have been incredibly adaptable, proactive and supportive throughout the redevelopment of our packaging. Although we are not geographically close, the team have been consistently professional and responsive.
They have worked with us on tight timelines and have gone above and beyond to help, even producing hand-finished samples for presentations well ahead of standard lead times. That level of flexibility and support has been invaluable as we developed these new ranges.
